Qianmen Street is a famous commercial street in Dongcheng District, Beijing, located on the central axis of the capital city. It starts from Qianmen Moon Bay in the north and ends at the intersection of Tianqiao Road in the south, connecting with Tianqiao South Street. This street has a long history, dating back to the 29th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1550), when it was the imperial route for the emperor to go out of the city to the Temple of Heaven and the Temple of Mountains and Rivers. Qianmen Street has a total length of 845 meters and a lane width of 20 meters. It is one of the largest ancient city protection areas in Beijing and the only planned commercial district around Tiananmen Square. ‌
Qianmen Street is not only the commercial center of Beijing, but also carries rich historical and cultural heritage. This was once a necessary route for emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties to worship the heavens, known as the "Imperial Road and Heavenly Street".
