Palm Valley - Mpulungkinya Walk - Finke Gorge National Park - Northern Territory

Palm Valley, located in a secluded corner of Kirchauff Ranges some 150 km from of Alice Springs, is an archetypal oasis in the desert - a small canyon with permanent water and a forest of Carpenteria palms. Mpulungkinya trail is a loop walk of about 5 km length that for most part runs at the base of this canyon. As the canyon opens up further upstream, the track ascends the sides of the valley to end up atop 20 m high sandstone cliffs which offer great views of the valley and the ranges beyond.
