Kolomyia is a historic city in western Ukraine's Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast along the Prut River, first mentioned in 1240 during the Mongol invasion of Kyivan Rus' as a salt-trading center in the Principality of Halych-Volhynia, later granted Magdeburg rights in 1405 under Polish rule and renowned for its Hutsul cultural heritage, including the National Museum of Hutsul and Pokuttya Folk Art.
