Put on your headset and join me on a fully immersive 360° VR journey to the summit of Mount Etna, Europe’s highest and most active volcano, located in Sicily, Italy.

In this virtual reality travel experience, you’ll feel like you’re really there as we start our expedition at Piano Provenzana, riding special 4×4 vehicles up to 2,900 meters. From there, the adventure continues on foot, walking across vast black lava fields and surreal volcanic landscapes.

As you look around freely in full 360°, you’ll see steam rising from the summit craters, sense the scale of the volcano, and experience the unique atmosphere of an active volcanic environment. In some places, the ground beneath your feet is still warm — a powerful reminder that Mount Etna is very much alive.

At the top, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views in every direction. In VR, you can turn your head and see Sicily’s coastline, the Mediterranean Sea, and even the distant Aeolian Islands, creating a true feeling of presence and scale that only virtual reality can offer.

This is more than a hike — it’s a journey into fire, history, and myth. Ancient Greeks believed Mount Etna was the home of Hephaestus, the god of fire and metal, forging weapons beneath the mountain with giants trapped inside.
