Ground Self-Defense Forces Northeastern Army Band was founded in 1960 and is located at the Sendai Garrison in Miyagino Ward, Sendai City. With an area of ​​activity covering the six Tohoku prefectures, the band's mission is to perform for ceremonies and public relations purposes, and it is engaged in a wide range of activities, including regular concerts, youth concerts, commemorative concerts, tours of the Tohoku region, music appreciation events at schools, and performances at the request of both the band and the general public. In recent years, the band has performed as a bridge between the Japanese people and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, including performing in disaster relief efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake and appearing at the Self-Defense Force Music Festival at the Nippon Budokan.
