A barcarolle (from the Italian barcarola) is a folk song performed by Venetian gondoliers, or a musical work written in imitation of that style. In European classical music, the two most famous are that from Jacques Offenbach's opera The Tales of Hoffmann and Frédéric Chopin's Barcarolle in F-sharp major for piano, Opus 60.
