Malaysian Horned Frog — English Description
The Malaysian Horned Frog (Megophrys nasuta) is a large, ground-dwelling amphibian found in the tropical rainforests of Malaysia, Borneo, and Sumatra. It is easily identified by its dramatic horn-like extensions above the eyes and a sharply angled snout, giving it a fierce, leaf-like appearance that blends perfectly into the forest floor.
This species relies heavily on camouflage, staying motionless among leaf litter and ambushing prey such as insects, small frogs, and even small mammals. Although its appearance is striking, the Malaysian horned frog is generally calm but requires specialized care, thriving in cool, humid environments with deep leaf litter and clean water access.
With proper conditions, they can live 8–10 years or more in captivity. Their unique design and impressive camouflage make them a favorite among amphibian enthusiasts seeking something extraordinary.
