Germany's first museum railroad!
In 1964, four railroad enthusiasts from Hamburg no longer wanted to stand by and watch as small railroad lines were dismantled and vehicles scrapped. They founded the German Railway Association (DEV) with the aim of preserving one of these small railroads as a living open-air museum in the long term. On July 2, 1966, the vision became reality: the first train of the Bruchhausen-Vilsen Museum Railway ran!
