Experience a VR360 walk through Hodosan Shrine, located at the foot of Mount Hodosan in Nagatoro, Saitama Prefecture.

This is Part 1 of the Chichibu Three Shrines journey.

Together with Chichibu Shrine and Mitsumine Shrine, Hodosan Shrine is one of the Three Shrines of Chichibu. The walk begins at the torii gate, continues up the stone steps to the worship hall, and circles the shrine buildings.

According to tradition, Hodosan Shrine was founded in the year 110. The legendary prince Yamato Takeru was surrounded by a mountain fire but was guided to safety by sacred mountain dogs. He later enshrined the deities on Mount Hodosan.

The shrine is also known for its colorful carvings and gongen-zukuri architecture. Highlights include scenes from the Twenty-Four Paragons of Filial Piety and figures from Chinese mythology.

This free VR360 experience introduces the first of the Three Shrines of Chichibu.
