Summer Solstice in Poland | Ancient Traditions & Midsummer Rituals | 360° 3D Micro-Documentary

This 18-minute immersive 360° 3D micro-documentary was recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic as a museum project, created to document and digitally preserve Polish cultural heritage at a time when access to cultural institutions and live events was severely restricted.

The production takes viewers into the world of Summer Solstice and traditional Polish midsummer rituals, recreated in eastern Poland in collaboration with a historical reenactment group and more than a dozen actors and participants. Through carefully staged scenes, traditional costumes, rituals and the surrounding rural landscape, the film presents a vivid reconstruction of customs connected with the longest days of the year.

The project was conceived not simply as a film, but as an immersive digital museum experience. Using 360° 3D technology, the viewer can enter the reconstructed environment and freely look around, observing the ceremony and its participants from within the scene. This approach transforms the traditional documentary format into an experiential record, allowing cultural heritage to be explored remotely and preserved in an immersive form.

Created during the pandemic, the project also reflects the role of emerging immersive technologies in making cultural heritage accessible beyond the physical museum space.
