節分会2024 in 大須観音 ｜Setsubun E 2024 in Osu Kannon

「尾張四観音」と呼ばれる観音寺（荒子観音・甚目寺観音・龍泉寺観音・笠寺観音）の中心に当たる大須観音で開催される節分会。
ここでは1枚3,000円の祈祷料でどなたでも舞台から豆をまくことができます。昼からは節分宝船行列が行われ、福の神宝船・大須丸が栄小公園から大須観音まで練り歩いた後、福の神による「鬼追いの儀式（豆まき）」が行われます。
The Setsubun Festival is held at Osu Kannon, which is located in the center of the "Four Kannon Temples of Owari" (Arako Kannon, Jimokuji Kannon, Ryusenji Kannon, and Kasadera Kannon).
For a prayer fee of 3,000 yen per piece, anyone can throw beans from the stage. From noon, a Setsubun Treasure Boat Procession is held, in which the Osu Maru, a treasure boat of the god of fortune, is paraded from Sakae Ko Ko Koen Park to Osu Kannon, followed by the "Oni-oi Ceremony (bean-throwing)" by the god of fortune.

節分では豆をまきます
Beans are thrown at Setsubun.

現代の節分では豆をまきますが、もともとは米など他の穀物も使われていました。五穀豊穣が幸せの象徴であるように、穀物をまくと幸せが訪れると考えられていたことにくわえ、古くからの言い伝えとして「毘沙門天が鬼の目に豆を投げて退治した」とされる逸話もあります。穀物の中でも特に豆が選ばれるようになるとともに、現代のような鬼退治のイメージも定着していったようです。

In modern Setsubun, beans are thrown, but originally other grains such as rice were also used. As a good harvest is a symbol of happiness, it was believed that scattering grains would bring happiness, and there is also an old legend that "Bishamonten (a god of Buddhism) threw beans at the eyes of demons to exterminate them. As the beans became the chosen grain of choice, the image of exterminating demons, as we know it today, also took root.
