Minato Mirai 21 was systematically designed to be a "futuristic city befitting the 21st century. Electric lines and optical fibers are housed in underground common ditches, street trees are maintained, and buildings feature a unified design based on white and brown tones. A district heating and cooling system has been installed to conserve energy.
