Early evening in the historic city of Košice. (Relaxation video)
The second biggest town of Slovakia KOŠICE is not only the centre of eastern Slovakia but also the core of the Eastern Carpathians where several ethnicities live.
Košice – one of the oldest towns in Slovakia. This is a city with a rich and glorious past. It starts with the first mention of a community here in a document from the year 1230, when Košice is referred to as “Villa Cassa”.
Saint Elizabeth's Cathedral: This remarkable medieval monument was built in the High Gothic style. The construction of St. Elizabeth's Cathedral began approximately in 1378 and was carried out in several stages.
The State Theatre: The representative building of the State Theatre is situated in the city centre. It was built in a new-baroque style during the years 1879-1899, according to the projects of A.Lang and A.Steinhardt, where a former theatre-building, built in 1788 - 1790, was sitauted. Originally before that a town-hall building was standing here.
