Smederevo Fortress is a massive medieval fortification in Serbia, built between 1428 and 1439 by Despot Đurađ Branković as the capital of the Serbian Despotate. Strategically located on the Danube River, it was designed to withstand Ottoman invasions but fell to the Ottomans in 1459. The fortress has a rectangular shape with thick walls and 25 towers, making it one of the largest lowland fortresses in Europe. Despite damage from wars and a WWII explosion, it remains a significant historical and tourist site today. Put on your VR helmet or glasses, and let's go explore it!
