8K VR180: Guangzhou‘s Shamian Island, Sculpted by Time
Located on Bai'etan in Liwan District, Guangzhou, Shamian Island covers about 0.3 square kilometers and was historically a British and French concession. It preserves 169 European-style buildings in Neo-Baroque and Gothic Revival styles, earning the title “open-air architectural museum”. The ensemble was designated as a National Key Cultural Relic Protected Unit in 1996.
Today, Shamian is a vibrant provincial-level tourist and leisure district. Its historic buildings now house art galleries, cafes, and restaurants, making it a popular destination where visitors can experience its unique historical ambiance and modern urban charm.
