Japan Sendai Saishoin Temple

There is a memorial tower for Princess Kubo, the wife of Date Harumune and the grandmother of Date Masamune. Date Masamune founded the temple, naming it after his grandmother's Buddhist name, "Saishoin," to pray for her soul. The temple houses a statue of Sentaibutsu, which gave the place name Sendai its name.
