Hidden above the River Girvan in South Ayrshire, Dalquharran is home to not one, but two castles — each telling a different chapter of Scotland’s past.
The older Dalquharran Castle, built in the late 1500s, began life as a fortified tower house, strategically placed to watch over the valley below. Just a short distance away stands the newer Dalquharran Castle, constructed in the 1700s as a grand country mansion, reflecting a shift from defence to status and comfort.
In this Weathered & Wild Quick Facts drone video, we capture the more modern of the two ruins from the air.
