Experience the Thrill of Extreme Flying in Virtual Reality - VR 🥽 Bush Flying Papua
Landing a little too deep on this extremely wet runway with a tailwind, I had to rely on reverse thrust to slow down. The slippery conditions made it challenging to maintain centerline, so I used a bit of power to counteract the pulling force of the reverse thrust. The airplane stoped not to far from the end of the runway. A close call, but a safe landing!
This village is located in the Star Mountains of West Papua. Its supplies, transportation and evacuations only happen by plane or rarely by helicopter. The terrain surrounding Alemsom is rugged and goes as high as 12500 feet elevation. For that reason roads are inexistant making it "A true Pilot's Home".
