Sanctus (“Holy”) is a jubilant double fugue for two choirs, celebrating the glory of God with brilliant orchestral writing and radiant choral textures. Following the solemnity of the Offertory, Verdi fills this movement with energy, joy, and triumphant praise, creating one of the most exhilarating moments of the Requiem.
