Our fourth day in Okinawa began just steps from our hotel at the Okinawa Prefectural Museum. From the ocean-themed glass floor at the entrance to exhibits on the Minatogawa Man, Ryukyuan rituals, cuisine, and daily life, the museum gave us a rich look into Okinawa’s history and culture.

Later, we headed to Okinawa World, home to the famous Gyokusendo Cave. This 300,000-year-old limestone cave is filled with dramatic stalactites, rimstone terraces, and even prehistoric fossils. Toward the end, we came across aquariums displaying small cave-dwelling creatures, a reminder that life persists even in the darkest places.

Back outside, we explored the tropical fruit garden and strolled through preserved Ryukyu-era houses like the Uezu residences. We also peeked into the factory where habu snake liquor is made. The day wrapped up with the Habu Show — featuring a race between Okinawa’s infamous venomous snake and a mongoose, a playful nod to island folklore.

📍 In this episode:
・Okinawa Prefectural Museum exhibits
・Gyokusendo Cave and prehistoric fossils
・Tropical fruit garden & Ryukyu Old Town houses
