The DM ED1 digital microphone inputs 16-bit audio to the compatible camera, which records in 24-bit. Power is supplied by the camera, so there's nothing else to worry about. A function button on the microphone activates the camera menu with the microphone settings. I selected 120-degree stereo. Due to fan noise and mechanical hum, I mounted the microphone slightly higher on a dampened hot shoe using the separate Canon cable. I handheld the camera to see if I'll need to bring the gimbal on vacation. Video stabilization reduces detail in the resolution (the tracker in DaVinci Resolve uses half the image lines).
