How does a cell bring substances in from the outside?
Clathrin is a protein that assembles into a cage-like structure beneath the cell membrane. As clathrin molecules gather, they help bend the membrane and form a small vesicle that carries selected molecules into the cell.
Once the vesicle is released, the clathrin coat quickly disassembles and the proteins are recycled for the next round.
Step inside the cell and watch this remarkable molecular machinery at work in 360° VR.
