Ninna-ji Temple was founded in 888 (Ninna 4) and is currently the head temple of the Omuro branch of Shingon Buddhism.
The temple grounds are lined with buildings constructed during the Edo period, such as a five-story pagoda and the Niomon gate.
It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1994.
Zen Garden (Japanese Garden)
The "South Garden" is covered with white gravel.
The "North Garden" features a pond.
