The Monument to the Soviet Army Soldiers
It was in the vicinity of Kamenín, on the right bank of the Hron River, that one of the largest and bloodiest tank battles on the territory of modern-day Slovakia took place in early 1945 (during the German counter-offensive Operation Südwind). In honor of the fallen Soviet soldiers who lost their lives in these brutal engagements, a monument was erected on a high vantage point, dominated by an authentic Soviet T-34 tank. To this day, the tank symbolically points in the direction from which the enemy forces advanced."
