"Where the sky, the sea, and the frozen waves of lava meet."

After completing the Kilauea Iki Trail, we headed toward the crown jewel of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park: 'Chain of Craters Road.' True to its name, this road offers a breathtaking parade of massive craters lining the route. As we passed these ancient formations, an even more surreal landscape began to unfold.

An endless expanse of lava fields. The vast, blackened plains formed by ancient eruptions make you feel as if you’ve landed on another planet. We descended toward the ocean, surrounded by the raw textures of 'A'ā' and the smooth, ropey flows of 'Pāhoehoe' lava.

At the end of the road, we encountered a masterpiece sculpted by nature: the 'Hōlei Sea Arch.' Carved by the relentless power of the Pacific waves against volcanic cliffs over thousands of years, this monumental arch is a profound reminder of nature’s grandeur.

We concluded our long journey by returning to the misty Volcano Village. Tucking into a cozy Airbnb nestled deep within the lush tropical rainforest, the first night on the Big Island deepened—amidst the lingering warmth of the volcano and the cool embrace of the forest.
