“Montfort es mort!” — The Siege of Toulouse (1218)

Toulouse, 25 June 1218. For months, the city has resisted the siege led by Simon de Montfort. When the crusader commander falls before the walls, fear gives way to an explosion of rage, joy and freedom.

This event belongs to Occitan history, but its meaning is universal: the struggle of a people who refuse to submit.
