Nishikicho Park, located in the center of Sendai, has a spacious lawn and an area equipped with exercise equipment, where businesspeople can take a break and local residents can be seen enjoying leisure time such as walking and doing exercises. Many tall trees such as zelkova and ginkgo trees are planted in the park, giving you a sense of the rich seasonal changes. In spring, the Kohigan cherry trees planted around the lawn bloom about a week earlier than the Somei Yoshino cherry trees, so the park is crowded with people enjoying early cherry blossom viewing.
