Japan Sendai Toshogu Shrine
Sendai Toshogu Shrine was founded in 1654 by Date Tadamune, the second lord of the Sendai domain. The main hall and four other buildings are designated as important national cultural properties.
Toshogu Shrines are shrines that worship Tokugawa Ieyasu, who founded the Edo Shogunate, as a god. Famous examples include Nikko Toshogu Shrine and Kunozan Toshogu Shrine. They are scattered all over the country to show their loyalty to the Tokugawa family, and are not painted like Nikko Toshogu Shrine.
Sendai Toshogu Shrine was built in the northeast direction of Sendai Castle, which is considered to be the evil direction according to feng shui.
