
Fethiye is a coastal resort town in southwestern Turkey's MuÄla Province, originally founded in the 5th century BCE as the Lycian city of Telmessosâknown for its oracle and rock-cut tombsâand later evolving through Persian, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman periods before being renamed in 1934 after aviator Fethi Bey, famed for its ancient theater, ĂlĂźdeniz lagoon, and KayakĂśy ghost village.
