I start this day in Machapuchhre Base Camp a bit later than planned – I woke up feeling sick and low on energy. But the weather is good, with blue sky and some clouds hanging around the peaks, so I slowly push on towards Annapurna Base Camp.

On the way up, helicopters keep flying in and out of the valley – rescue flights and supply runs – and you can look up and actually follow them in full VR180 3D. The trail opens up, the mountains rise around me and step by step I finally walk into the famous Annapurna Base Camp amphitheatre.

After a short rest at ABC, I head back down towards MBC before the weather changes again. It’s a long but beautiful Day 4: clear views, moving clouds and the constant sound of helicopter blades echoing between the walls of the Sanctuary.
