iuli Lake is located in Zhongshan Town, Xianyou County, Putian, Fujian. As a national 4A-level scenic area, it is hailed as one of the "Three Wonders of Fujian", together with Wuyi Mountain and Yuhua Cave. Legend has it that during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, nine brothers of the He clan refined elixirs to help people here and eventually ascended to immortality riding nine red carps, hence the name Jiuli Lake. It is also the birthplace of China’s dream-praying culture.
The scenic spot is famous for four wonders: the Jiuli Waterfalls, glacial valleys, age-old dream-praying tradition and cliff inscriptions, earning the reputation "The waterfalls of Jiuli Lake are unparalleled under heaven". Its highlight, the Nine-Tier Waterfalls, stretches over ten kilometers with a total drop of 432 meters, each tier featuring unique scenery. The Waterfall Tier boasts a 100-meter drop with breathtaking momentum. Glacial potholes spread across the riverbed, precious relics of ancient glacial movements.
Since ancient times, numerous literati have visited here. Xu Xiake once highly praised its integrated mountain and river beauty. Countless ancient inscriptions remain on precipices. For thousands of years, visitors come to pray for dreams amid serene landscapes.
