Touring around the Shanghai Jewish Ghetto in Zhoushan Rd by bike, 4K 360° video with Insta360 One X
The Jewish Ghetto in Shanghai, located in the Hongkou District, served as a refuge for thousands of Jews escaping Nazi and anti-Semitic persecution during the 1930s and 1940s. Centered around the Ohel Moshe Synagogue — now the Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum — the area became a vibrant community despite the difficult conditions. At that time, Shanghai was one of the few places in the world that accepted Jewish refugees without strict immigration restrictions.
This 360° bike tour explores parts of Hongkou between Zhoushan Road and Changyang Road, where traces of this important history can still be found. Some former refugee residences remain standing, although much of the neighborhood has changed as redevelopment projects continue to reshape the area.
Drag the video to explore the surroundings from every angle and experience this virtual journey through one of Shanghai’s most historically significant districts.
Recorded in 360-degree format with an Insta360 One X using an Invisible Selfie Stick.
