Crepuscular Rays

Crepuscular rays are beams of sunlight that appear to radiate from the sun when it shines through gaps in clouds or between mountains. The light is scattered by atmospheric particles, which makes the sunbeams visible as bright rays separated by darker shadows. This effect is most common during sunrise or sunset, when the contrast between light and shadow is strongest.
