In this Weathered & Wild – Quick Facts video, we take a closer look at The Falkirk Kelpies, one of Scotland’s most iconic modern landmarks.

Completed in 2013 and opened to the public in 2014, the towering horse-head sculptures known as Duke and Baron stand 30 metres high at The Helix, marking a key point in Scotland’s historic canal network. Inspired by folklore, industry, and the power of the Clydesdale horse, The Kelpies have become a symbol of modern Scotland.

Often illuminated in changing colours to mark events and raise awareness for various causes, the sculptures continue to evolve as a cultural landmark.
