커먼 머스크 터틀(Sternotherus odoratus)은 북아메리카에 서식하는 작은 거북이다. 몸길이는 7~14cm 정도이며, 등딱지는 어두운 갈색이나 검은색이다. 머리와 목에는 흰색 또는 노란색 줄무늬가 있다. 위협을 느끼면 악취 나는 분비물을 배출해 "스팅크팟(Stinkpot)"이라는 별명이 붙었다. 주로 강, 연못, 습지에서 서식하며 곤충, 작은 물고기, 수생식물 등을 먹는 잡식성이다. 수영을 잘하지만 주로 바닥을 기어 다니며 생활한다. 번식기는 봄에서 여름까지이며, 한 번에 29개의 알을 낳는다. 평균 수명은 30~50년이다.

Its head and neck have white or yellow stripes. When threatened, it releases a foul-smelling secretion, earning the nickname "Stinkpot." It primarily inhabits rivers, ponds, and wetlands, feeding on insects, small fish, and aquatic plants. Though a strong swimmer, it often crawls along the bottom. Its breeding season lasts from spring to summer, with females laying 2–9 eggs at a time. The average lifespan is 30 to 50 years.
