Rise up one of the Sechelt Peninsula’s greatest living giants in this immersive 360° 8K drone flight through ancient forest on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast.

This extraordinary Douglas fir is estimated to be around 500 years old, about 150 feet (46 meters) tall, and an astonishing 8 meters (26 feet) in circumference, making it one of the two largest living organisms on the Sechelt Peninsula. Its massive trunk tells an even deeper story: the top of the tree broke off long ago, and had it survived intact, this giant may have stood more than 200 feet (61 meters) tall.

From the forest floor, the scale of this ancient tree is hard to comprehend. But as the drone climbs higher and higher along its enormous trunk, the true magnitude of this old-growth survivor comes into view. Scarred by time, shaped by centuries, and still standing in the coastal rainforest of British Columbia, it feels less like a tree and more like a living monument.
