A bookstore in an ancient residence

A pair of double-opening log gates with brass animal-head door knockers, one open and the other closed. Outside the gate, there is a bustling stream of people; inside, there is an antique bookstore. "Nancun Yingxue" is a new-concept cultural bookstore launched by Xinhua Bookstore in Sijing Ancient Town. It was originally a three-entry courtyard of the local Guan family in the late Qing Dynasty, combining Huizhou and Suzhou architectural styles.
The bookstore is renovated from the Guan family's residence dating back to the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. This 300-year-old ancient house was completely renovated while retaining its original appearance. Every brick, tile, carved pattern, and corner reproduces the original style of the ancient architecture.
Inside the bookstore, bookshelves stand like a forest. From classics on Jiangnan culture to modern literary masterpieces, they are quietly displayed. When your fingertips glide over the spines of the books, you can feel the texture of time. The aroma of baking wafts from the Mochenguang Cafe at the corner. Dark brown coffee beans rotate in the copper coffee machine, blending with the sound of page-flipping to create a lazy afternoon rhythm.
