Tang Dynasty Court Music (618–907 CE) represents the pinnacle of Chinese imperial musical tradition, blending ritual, artistry, and cross-cultural exchange. As a symbol of the cosmopolitan "Golden Age" of the Tang Empire, it encompassed two main genres: Yayue (ceremonial music for state rituals and Confucian ceremonies) and Yanyue (banquet music for imperial entertainment). The music featured elaborate ensembles with instruments like the pipa (lute), guqin (zither), sheng (mouth organ), and dizi (bamboo flute), accompanied by choreographed dances and poetic lyrics.
