Welcome to Stark Excursions! In this episode we're checking out the Crystal Beer Parlor — Savannah's oldest restaurant, serving locals and visitors since 1933.
Take a full 360° walk with me from the historic corner entrance on West Jones Street, around to the parking lot entrance, past the original 1930s bar, and into a dining room packed with nearly a century of Savannah history. This place started as a grocery store, ran as a speakeasy during Prohibition, and was one of the first restaurants in America to legally serve alcohol after repeal. Al Capone even tried to recruit the original owner.
What we ordered:
🥒 Fried Pickles
🍗 Crystal Jalapeno Duck Wings (a must!)
🥩 Hamburger Steak (another winner)
🥙 Gyro
🥪 Double Decker Club
🦀 Cup of Creamy Crab Stew
🥗 Salad
Is it worth a stop on your Savannah trip? Watch and find out — and stick around to the end for my honest take on prices and what to order.
