Elizabeth Island (Komárno, Slovakia)
Alžbetin ostrov (in English: Elizabeth Island) is a scenic island located in the town of Komárno, in southern Slovakia, right on the Danube River near the Hungarian border. It’s a peaceful green area popular for relaxation, walking, cycling, and spending time by the water. 🏞️ About the Island The island is named after Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sissi). It’s connected to the city by a bridge, so it’s easy to reach on foot, by bike, or by car. There are parks, walking paths, playgrounds, and small beaches along the riverbank. It’s also home to Komárno’s port and several restaurants, cafés, and sports areas. 🚶♂️ Things to Do Take a walk or bike ride along the Danube promenade. Visit the harbor and watch boats passing by. Enjoy a coffee or meal with a river view. In summer, there are often events, concerts, and fairs on the island. 📍 Location Situated directly south of Komárno’s city center.
