It is considered one of the most "Catholic" dates in the church year and is associated with many regional religious customs in Austria: the "Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ", usually called "Corpus Christi" for short. The festival, which is always celebrated on the second Thursday after Pentecost, is a public holiday in Austria as well as in over a dozen other countries such as Poland, Croatia, Portugal, Brazil and several German federal states.
