📜 History of Tanyard Creek & Bella Vista:
The Tanyard Creek Nature Trail is a true labor of love, completely constructed and meticulously maintained by a dedicated group of local volunteers. The route winds through an area rich with Ozark history. As you track the natural dirt path, you are actually walking along old pioneer wagon roadbeds.

Keep a close eye on the woods as we pass the historical sections of the trail—you can still see the stone foundations and remains of two historic homesteads that were long ago reclaimed by the forest (one of the main houses tragically burned down in the 1950s). Further down the path, the limestone bluffs feature ancient overhangs that historically served as primitive rock shelters for Native Americans long before Bella Vista transformed into a resort and outdoor recreation haven.
