I wake up in Lower Chomrong and the first thing I see is an insane morning sky over the Annapurna range – clear air, sharp peaks and clouds floating below me. This whole day is filmed in VR180 8K, so you can stand right on the balcony with me and look around that view in full 3D.
After breakfast I start walking, always up and down, passing mountain villages, stone steps and forest trails on the way to Dovan. It’s a long enough day on the ABC trek: bus legs from yesterday, heavy backpack today, and nothing is flat.
Later the clouds move in, the sky closes and the trail turns into a misty tunnel. Somewhere on the way I make the mistake of ordering Korean soup – spoiler: it was crap and definitely not the highlight of the day.
There’s a simple rule up here: don’t sleep more than about 500 m higher than the previous night, so I stop in Dovan to rest, eat and get ready for the next push towards Annapurna Base Camp.
