Journey to the Center of the Earth: An Immersive Viewing Experience of Kaiyuan Karst Cave

Kaiyuan Karst Cave is located in Yuanquan Town, Boshan District. It gets its name from the cliff carvings dating back to the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) inside the cave, and it is a corridor-hall type cave. The cave developed in the thick-bedded limestone of the Majiagou Formation of the Ordovician Period. It has a total length of 744.9 meters, a general width of 6 to 15 meters (with a maximum width of 30 meters), and a general height of 6 to 8 meters (with a maximum height of over 30 meters).

Kaiyuan Karst Cave owes its name to the cliff carvings from the Kaiyuan era of the Tang Dynasty within it. The cave is large and tall, stretching over 1,100 meters in length and divided into six halls. Inside the cave, various natural features such as stalactites are exquisitely translucent and vividly lifelike, dazzling the eyes of visitors. What is even more amazing are the cliff carvings from different periods, including the Neolithic Age, the Tang Dynasty, and the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD).
