Experience a VR360 walk through Kiyomizu-dera, one of Kyoto’s most famous temples.

Kiyomizu-dera is one of the 17 component sites that together form the UNESCO World Heritage property “Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto.”

The journey begins on Kiyomizu-zaka, the historic approach lined with shops selling traditional Kyoto sweets, Uji green tea, ceramics, folding fans, and local souvenirs.

Continue through the vermilion Nio-mon Gate and explore the three-story pagoda, one of the tallest structures of its kind in Japan.

The walk then enters the National Treasure Main Hall and reaches the famous Kiyomizu Stage, supported high above the hillside by massive wooden pillars.

From the Okuno-in Hall, enjoy one of Kiyomizu-dera’s most iconic views, looking across toward the Main Hall and its wooden stage.

The tour concludes at Otowa Waterfall, the sacred spring that gave Kiyomizu-dera its name, meaning “pure water.”

Highlights include:

Kiyomizu-zaka
Nio-mon Gate
Three-Story Pagoda
National Treasure Main Hall
Kiyomizu Stage
