The Kehlsteinhaus is a building at an altitude of 1,834 meters, which is reached via an elevator in the mountain. The house was built for Adolf Hitler with Martin Bormann as the builder and the National Socialist Party as the payer. The building remains as a museum and tourist facility. The facility is located 3.7 km (as the crow flies) southeast of Berchtesgaden. The site is reached during the tourist season by a special bus that departs from Obersalzberg.
