When looking for artistic inspiration, many Czech artists discovered France and Paris, says Fajt. They had emigrated or at least spent a few years in Paris since the 1970s and 1980s, and that was how it went until the Second World War. This francophone affinity of the Czech, or at that time Czech-Slovak, scene would shape the visual arts to this day.
