Yurikan is a castle-style building located on the east side of Watari Station on the JR Joban Line. It opened in 1994, with a local history museum on the first floor and a library on the second floor, and serves as a base for disseminating the culture of Watari. From the observation hall on the fifth floor you can get a panoramic view of the town, the Pacific Ocean to the east, and Mount Zao to the west. You can experience a flurry of cherry blossom petals in the latter part of the building.
It was built by Watari Motomune, the twelfth son of Date Tanemune who was adopted into the Watari clan, and is different from Watari Castle, which was moved as the Watari clan's castle from Kozutsumi Castle.
