Saint Vitus Cathedral, official name Katedrála svatého Víta, Václava a Vojtěcha i.e. Cathedral of Saint Vitus,
Saint Wenceslas and Saint Adalbert, is a cathedral in Prague, Czech Republic. Located within Prague Castle,
it is the Prague Cathedral and the seat of the Catholic Archbishop of Prague.
Until 1997, the church was also officially called the Vitus Cathedral, after Saint Vitus,
but to commemorate the thousand years since the death of the Czech patron saint Vojtěch Adalbert of Prague,
the name was changed to also pay tribute to him and the Czech third patron saint Wenzel of Bohemia.
It was Wenceslas of Bohemia who had the first church built on the site and he had it dedicated to Saint Vitus.
The cathedral is 124 meters long, 60 meters wide and the main tower is 96.5 meters high.
The front towers are 82 meters high and internally the cathedral's maximum ceiling height is 33 meters.
